In February 2026, Crypto.com co-founder and CEO Kris Marszalek said he had bought AI.com. Multiple outlets, citing broker Larry Fischer of GetYourDomain.com and the Financial Times, reported the price as about $70 million, paid entirely in cryptocurrency. According to those reports, the purchase was completed in April 2025 and announced in February 2026, ahead of a Super Bowl LX ad for an AI-agent product launched under the name.
Bigger than the previous records
The Register noted the deal beats the long-cited CarInsurance.com sale ($49.7 million). CoinDesk compared it with the $30 million that Block.one paid for Voice.com in 2019. DNJournal lists AI.com at the top of its 2026 year-to-date sales chart at $70,000,000.
Why it matters for buyers
- Short, generic .com names in hot categories are still extremely scarce.
- The seller had reportedly asked $100 million publicly in 2025, a reminder that asking prices and final prices can differ a lot.
- Big brand launches still treat the exact-match .com as a marketing asset, not just an address.
