How buying a domain works

A step-by-step overview of buying a domain from us, from checkout to the domain showing up in your account.

Buying a premium domain is simpler than most people expect. Here is the whole process, start to finish.

1. Choose how you want to buy

Every domain page shows the options the seller has enabled: Buy Now at a fixed price, Make an Offer, and on some names Lease-to-own with monthly payments.

2. Pay securely

At checkout you pick one of the payment methods shown (for example card, PayPal, bank transfer, crypto or escrow). Your payment is confirmed before the transfer starts. See Payment methods.

3. Transfer

We start the transfer as soon as payment is confirmed. Usually this is either a push to an account at the same registrar or an authorization (EPP) code that you use to transfer the domain to your registrar. See How domain transfers work.

4. You're the owner

Once the domain shows in your registrar account, update the nameservers and you're live. You'll get an email at each step, and you can reply to any of them if you have a question.
